Volunteering Opportunities
The Hospice at May Court provides support and caring for the person diagnosed with a life threatening or terminal illness and their family.

Opportunities to volunteer are available in the following areas:
Home Support
Weekly home visits to Hospice clients. A mandatory Hospice Volunteer Orientation training course is offered every Fall (Tuesday evening for 13 weeks).
Day Hospice
Working at the Day Hospice program with participants, volunteers and Hospice staff. You must have completed the Hospice Volunteer Orientation Course and be available from 9:15 am to 3:00 pm Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Residential Care
Working in the Hospice Residence with patients in the final weeks of their illness. Shifts are available seven days a week, daytime, afternoon and evening.
Family Support
Providing complementary therapies to "family" caregivers and accompanying them on the grief journey. Prerequisites are the training course and one year's experience in one of the above programs. Availability: Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Transportation
Transporting individuals from their homes (9:30 am) and driving them to the Hospice and/or returning them to their homes at the end of the day (2:30 pm). You must have access to a vehicle and be available Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday during the day. Regular or occasional shifts are available.
Office Help
Data entry, clerical, word processing, library assistance and more. Availability: Monday to Friday, 2 to 4 hours weekly between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm.
Clean-up Days
Help with yard clean up and light housekeeping chores once or twice a year: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (fall) October and (spring) April.
Events
Assisting with planning events or helping with activities on the event day, such as Hospice Awareness Week (Fall), Homes for the Holidays (November), Hike for Hospice (Spring).
Reception
Three hour shifts on weekdays from 3pm to 10pm and on weekends 1 1/2 to 3 hour shifts from 9am to 10 pm. Greeting, screening and directing visitors to the Residence and receiving deliveries. Opportunity to work on small projects (yours and ours) during quiet times.
Gardening
Assisting with planning, planting and maintaining the gardens between May and October. Regular shifts and one time assistance welcome. Some experience required.
Flower Arranging
Volunteers come in on a regular basis, Monday, Wednesday or Friday, either one or more times a month, usually from 9 am to 12 pm, during which time they make new floral arrangements or refresh existing ones from donated materials.
